If the eyes are the window to the soul, the face is like the first gateway that everyone notices first about a person's body. So it's no surprise that women place such high importance on their face.

First, let us share some tips for prepping bright, clear skin before going out or attending an event. Besides applying daily eye cream and facial moisturizer, evenings and weekends tend to be when skin looks tired and worn out, appears saggy, and pores look enlarged. You should guard against this by adding a face mask into your weekly routine as well. Let's take a look at some easy mask recipes made with ingredients you can find at any market.

Honey Face Mask Recipe

Did you know that honey contains natural moisturizing properties and can help retain hydration? So before heading to a party, try grabbing some honey from the fridge, applying it to your face, and leaving it on for 10 minutes. Honey will soften your skin and make it look bright, and importantly, it also helps keep your skin looking youthful.

Turmeric Face Mask Recipe

This is an age-old recipe: masking your face with turmeric. Since turmeric is high in vitamin E, it helps create moisture. Apply it as a mask on your face, leave it for 10 minutes, then rinse off — this will leave your skin soft and glowing. However, a word of caution: this recipe shouldn't be done too often, as it may leave a yellow tint on your face. Either way, be sure to rinse off thoroughly after masking.

Lime + Honey Face Mask Recipe

Lime is an easy-to-find kitchen ingredient found in almost every household. Its beauty benefits include helping keep the skin firm and elastic, and reducing premature wrinkles, while vitamin C helps protect the skin from sunlight and promotes cell turnover, making the skin even brighter. This recipe is simple: mix 1 tablespoon of lime juice with  3 tablespoons of honey, blend well, and apply to your face. Leave it on for 10 minutes, then massage in circular motions with your hands so the mixture absorbs better into your skin. After trying it just once, you'll immediately feel that your skin is softer and more hydrated, and ready for makeup.

Taking care of your facial skin is essential, but many people don’t know the proper “cleansing method.” So it's not surprising that many people experience issues with acne, both blackheads and clogged pores, which are caused by dirt and debris that get trapped in the pores of the face. So let's learn the correct way to cleanse our face, so our skin can stay beautiful and bouncy for a long time.

Facial care starts simply with thorough cleansing
Facial care starts simply with thorough cleansing

The first step is to choose a makeup remover that is primarily oil-based, because the makeup we use is mostly oil-based, so using oil to remove oil is the correct method. Start by dropping oil onto a cotton pad until it's moderately saturated, then gently wipe it across your face, starting with the eyelid area first, moving from the inner corner to the outer corner of the eye. Then continue cleansing the other areas of your face, wiping outward, away from the center of your face. Repeat several times until you're confident no makeup residue remains, then use your regular facial cleanser as usual.

But for those who prefer using a cream-type cleanser, dab the makeup-removing cream onto 5 points on your face: the forehead, both cheeks, the nose, and the chin. Then start massaging the cream in with your ring finger and middle finger, beginning at both cheeks, massaging in circular motions outward toward the sides of the face, moving in one consistent direction rather than back and forth. Then wipe off the cream with a cotton pad, and finish by washing your face as usual with a facial foam or cleanser.

These are all simple, everyday ways to cleanse and care for your own skin. Always cleanse your face before going to bed — don't think of it as a waste of time. Instead, always remember that spending just 5 or 10 minutes is far better than having to spend months or years treating skin problems later.
